Grass-fed Beef & Pork

Steaks_003

Meadow Oaks farm Grass-fed Freezer beef is pretty darn good stuff!

We have a bunch of satisfied repeat customers to prove it.  To start it is all natural.  That means no Hormones, no chemicals and no unnatural feeds.   Some beef available at the grocery stores, was fed chicken litter, (A polite way to say chicken manure.)  You never have to worry about the wholesomeness of Meadow Oaks grass-fed Beef.  We have had a couple of people ask this question, so here it is again... We feed no grain to our cattle.

Update!!!!  We are nearly sold out of beef for fall 2011, get your orders in ASAP.  We have a few pigs left, so if you want a pastured pig get your order in soon.

For those that wish for grassfed, all of our calves are grass fed and finished.  It takes a little longer to get them finished but it is worth the wait.  The beef that we ourselves eat is grassfed and finished with all of the health benefits of higher Omega 3s and is usually leaner, but still tender and flavorful.

The beef is processed at Brook locker, a small town local locker plant that is 45 minutes away from Lafayette Indiana and a one hour drive from Chicago.  The Brook Locker is a small operation that gives immaculate attention to their product and personal service to their customers.

Pork is also available if we know in advance.   The pigs are raised in lots with freedom to run around, root in the mud and be pigs. Pork is priced at $250 per finished hog and you pay the processing.  Pigs will be going in throughout October, so let me know ASAP if you want one

Pigs are now sold out for 2011, check in during 2012 to place an order.

1/02/12:  We have some open heifers available for grassfed beef, let us know if you need a quarter or a half.

We had an issue or two with a couple of people that ordered and then backed out.  Thanks to those of you that stepped up in line

to help us with that.  We will require a $100 deposit this year when you place your order.  It will be non-refundable, but will be deducted from

your final bill.  Thanks  Greg

Pricing

Our pricing works like this:  You can purchase a split half, (a quarter), a half or a whole.  We charge $2.75 per lb for

carcass weight for the grassfed, which is what you pay us.  You pay Brook Locker for the processing, this runs

between $70 and $100 per 1/4 depending on what you have done.  Each 1/4 will yield from 125-150 lbs of meat

depending on the size of the animal.  Your final price will be around $3.50-$4.00 per lb., depending on what processing you have done  This includes hamburgers, steaksand roasts.  It is quite a bargain compared to what you would pay at the grocery store for commodity beef.

You may get hamburger that came from several different animals from potentially several different countries cheaper, but

where will you get delicious T bones and ribeyes for that price?

An explanation on what you might get with your quarter or half from Jeff at Brook Locker…

Well; keep in mind every beef is different so the number of each cut could very a couple each way, also the types of cuts you get could effect the number of cuts also. One style of cut may affect the next cut etc.. Also thickness of the cut will effect numbers also the thicker the cut the less you get.

On Average of a half of beef  A split half(quarter) divide by two.

12 T-bone  or 6 tenderloins  and 12 ny strip [ both of these items comes from the same cut of meat, so you can have either the t-bone or strip and tenderloin but not both]

10 ribeye

9 sirloins

14# of either round stk, cube stk or roast.  [ these all come from the same cut of meat]

two rump roast  4# each

6 chuck roast

4 swiss or two arm roast  [also out of same cut of meat}

4 pkgs short ribs

6 soup bones

8 boiling beef

stew depends on how much you want, we use the leaner meat so the more you get it takes away the leaner meat for hamburger, which will make a little fattier

Hamburger is everything you don't want in the cuts above plus all the left over trim pieces.

Testimonials

"After our family quit raising beef, we were wondering where we were going to get great quality meat at a good price (we won't buy store meat.)  We decided to purchase a half a steer from Greg, and the meat has been excellent!  The meat has been great quality, has a great taste, all at a reasonable price!  We are so thankful we do not have to buy our meat from the store like we thought we would have to!  We, as well as the rest of our family, will continue to buy beef from the Walkers and recommend his beef to everyone we know looking for high-quality meat."

My family and I are so pleased with our purchase of your beef.  We cannot remember tasting such good meat.  The ground beef is very lean.  We will definitely buy some more.  Thanks!

The beef was the best we have ever bought. The hamburger, chuck roasts, round steaks and steaks are all very lean and tender. I would highly recommend this meat.   Excellent!  Steve and Paula Ashford

“I have bought from the Walkers twice and have seen improvements in my health.  I have rheumatoid arthritis and the beef helps lessen my inflammation because the cows are hormone free.  I am currently out of beef and the store bought beef is so full of grease even from my local butcher that it makes me sick to think about what I’m putting into my family. I can’t wait to get my side of beef next month and be pain free again!”  Jennifer Hemphill  DeMotte, IN

With our family’s commitment to eating locally sourced and environmentally sustainable meat products, we were thankfully introduced to Meadow Oaks and Greg Walker. The ease of ordering, great communication and just the pure enjoyment of the taste and texture of both the Angus Beef and Pork we purchased has been a wonderful addition to our family’s daily meals. Knowing we are supporting both a local farmer and the local environment are added bonuses. We are really looking forward to our next order from Meadow Oaks!

Hi Greg and family.  I just wanted to say thanks for the delicious beef!  Whatever kind of grass you are serving did wonders for the taste of the beef.  Probably some TLC involved also J.

I’ve tried the chuck roast and the ground beef so far and both were wonderful.    The people at Brook locker were very nice also.

Thanks again for the quality, healthy food you are providing!

We had our first of your Ground beef today and I just had to write you.
Wow!!  My husband said it was well worth the trip. It was the best ever and no grease in the skillet! We always tried to buy the leanest Ground Beef we could and usually Laura's brand. I was surprised that it was so lean and just kind of thought it may have added fat. Recently we tried the grass fed beef from the health food store and was disappointed in flavor as the fat tasted really old. I could NEVER eat that again!!. Your beef has ruined us for anything else.
Thanks for doing such a great job!!

Hi Greg,

Joel McCosh and family here. We hope you and family had good holidays and a good winter with the stock so far.

Greg, We have spent 2 months eating your beef and have tried every cut except for heart and tongue.

I can honestly say that your product is top-notch in flavor, tenderness and juiciness. This beef is extremely good, no comparison to typical store bought. The flavor brought me back to when I was a kid in the 60's.

Put me on the 2012 fall list for a 1/4. Early fall if possible.

Thanks again,

Joel
